Driveway Gate, Maple Ridge, B.C., Portfolio #3
On the top you can see a few of the drawings we produced for the client after we spoke about their project goals. We reworked the concept design until the client was ecstatic about it.
The materials for this driveway gate are mainly aluminum. The gate’s primary frame consists of 3×3 aluminum tubing. The gate’s outer frame (where the hinges connect) is made from 3×6 aluminum tubing. This provides a bold statement and rigidity. The gate pickets are 1 1/2 sq tubing which are hand-cut to fit inside the frame.
We use laser cutting methods to cut the sheets required to fit the curve and recurve of the double upper rails. And we use sealed roller ball bearing hinges to hold the weight and provide the driveway gate with a smooth operation.
The main gate also uses the same design of hinges with a concealed automatic return spring.
The main gate also features a high-security exterior door strike with low voltage ac power with a buzzer to let visitors in. This setup allows for easy alarm system connectivity and for various methods of access, such as intercom, keypad, remote, cell phone, and so forth.
